To get started, we run a conflict check on the parties who will be involved in the mediation. Since mediation is a neutral process, we are looking to see if anyone involved in your case is currently a client or has been a client in the past. If you are interested in using our mediation services, please email your full name and the other party/parties’ full names to us at creativeresolutionsmediation (at) earthlink (dot) net. When we speak to you on the phone, we will also ask you for mailing addresses, whether you have a deadline for your 1st mediation session, if you wish your attorney to attend, and the disputed issues.
Typically, we are contacted by one party about beginning the mediation process. After we gather the basic information, we contact the other party or parties to explain the process and confirm that he or she wishes to participate in mediation.
After the conflict check has been completed, we ask that all parties fill out our Intake Form. This form is confidential and will not be shared with the other party. In addition to gathering basic information, the Intake Form allows the mediators to assess the level and potential of any abuse in the relationship and establish boundaries about safety before mediation.
We typically schedule our first mediation session for 2 hours. Unless the parties agree otherwise, we expect that each party will pay one-half (1/2) of the cost of the mediation session at the conclusion of the mediation session. Our current rate is $295.00 per hour for co-mediation. If your mediation session is longer than 2 hours, the additional time is charged at our hourly rate. If the mediation session is less than 2 hours, at our discretion, we may adjust the fees accordingly.
